Publishing Ministries Statement of Philosophy

The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to proclaim the Everlasting Gospel to all people, in the context of the three angels’ message in Revelation 14: 6-12, leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and to join His church and strengthening them in their preparation

for His soon return. The Seventh-day Adventist Church believes that it is “is God’s appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organised for service, and its mission is to carry the gospel to the world.” (The Acts of the Apostles, p. 9) “The gospel commission is the great missionary charter of Christ’s kingdom. The disciples were to work earnestly for souls, giving to all the invitation of mercy…The commission given to the disciples is also given to us. Today, as then, a crucified and risen Saviour is to be uplifted before those who are without God and without hope in the world.” (Christian Service, p. 23)

Our publishing work was established by the direction of God and under His special supervision. (The Publishing Ministry, p. 41).In 1848 the Lord revealed to Ellen G. White the following: “You must begin to print a little paper and send it out to the people…it was shown to me to be like streams of light that went clear round the world.” (Colporteur Ministry, p. 1).

On January 4, 1875, Ellen G. White recounted what had been presented to her in vision the previous day. In that vision the Lord had presented to her a panoramic description of the powerful Word the church was called to do. She saw the publishing work successfully operating in other nations and a well-organised work being implemented in the majority of the countries of the World.

The Lord sent the following message: “Hundreds of men should be engaged in carrying the light all through the cities, villages, and towns…Let light be sent out into all parts of the field.” (C.M., p. 84).

The divine plan is to contemplate a constant increase in the number of literature evangelists “From the light given me I know that where there is one canvasser in the field, there should be one hundred.” (C.M., p. 25), thus forming a powerful army of literature evangelists in all the nations of the world.

“The world is to receive the light of truth through an evangelising ministry of the Word in our books and periodicals.” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 61). “From our books and papers bright beams of light are to shine forth to enlighten the world in regard to present truth.” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, p. 87).

“God has ordained the canvassing work…This is the very work the Lord would have His people do at this time… introducing our publications into families, conversing, and praying with and for them – is a good work.” “Our canvassers are to be God’s evangelists, going from house to house in out-of-the-way places, and opening the Scriptures to those they meet.” That is why “God calls for workers from every church among us to enter His service as canvasser evangelists.” (C.M., pp. 6, 7, 39, 20). – Condense from the Inter-American Division Working Policy, 2018-2019, p. 473 and 474.
