On February 11th, 2023, Past President, Pastor Reinaldo Dracket of the Cayman Islands Conference, installed Pastor John E. Wesley as the Associate Pastor of the Newlands Seventh-day Adventist Church. The congregation was pleased to welcome the new addition to their pastoral team.
Pastor Wesley brings a rich legacy of ministry as his father was also a minister in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served in various locations. John grew up on South Caicos Island. His parents relocated to continue serving in Jamaica along with his sister Jacqueline. Later, his brother Ralph was born to Wesley’s family. John is the firstborn of Adventist missionaries, the late Pastor James Wesley (of Jamaica) and the late Mrs Pearldine Wesley (nee Jeffers from East End, Grand Cayman).
John’s grandmother, Sister Lorianna Jeffers, was an Adventist pioneer in the Cayman Islands and held posts such as Treasurer, Dorcas Leader, Superintendent, and Church Clerk. John followed in his parent’s footsteps and joined the Adventist Organization in the Cayman Islands in 1997.
He attended West Indies high school and graduated from West Indies College (now Northern Caribbean University) with a Chemistry and Computer Sciences degree. He has accomplished further studies, including Bachelor’s in Accounting, a Master’s in Business Administration, Bachelor’s in Law with Honors, and a Master’s in International Business Law. Wesley is working on his dissertation towards a doctoral degree in Ministry and studying for a doctoral degree in Management.
Pastor Wesley is married to Tempora Wesley, and they have three grown children, Timothy, Giovanni, John Emery Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Xochil. He is a missionary by heart and is involved in full-time ministry. His passion is spreading the Gospel, and he has been given a special gift to interpret and explain the Books of Daniel and Revelation. During the last four years, Pastor Wesley has conducted seminars and evangelist campaigns in different countries and has led more than 100 souls into the knowledge and love of the Lord.
The Newlands Seventh-day Adventist Church is excited to welcome Pastor Wesley to their team and looks forward to the future ministry they will accomplish together. They are grateful for his passion and dedication to spreading the Gospel and are eager to see the impact he will have on the community.
