The Youth Ministries Department of the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was made more vibrant with the investiture of six additional Master Guides on Saturday afternoon, 16 November 2019, at the Savannah Adventist Church. This diverse group of investees included a pastor, a police officer, an auditor and a construction worker.
This is a programme prepared by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and is followed by the world church. The Master Guides in training have to complete a vigorous programme to be eligible for investiture. The preparation for this group took over a year and concluded with a Master Guides Camp the 1st – 3rd November at the Agricultural Pavilion, in Lower Valley.
The main objective of training Master Guides is to equip persons to work with our children and youth in the Adventurer and Pathfinders’ Clubs. Some of the requirements are: a detailed study of the Adventist church’s history, church doctrines, pathfinder staff training course, which also includes drilling and camping skills. They are also required to complete several honours, in various skills, in order to teach honours in the clubs.
The keynote speaker was the Youth Director of the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Vaughn Henry, supported by Assistant Youth Director, Sister Merle Watkins. Some of the invested Master Guides also assisted with the pinning ceremony of the investees.
We thank God for the willingness of our senior youth to be trained for service.
