Master Guide Day & Master Guide Induction 2021

The Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Youth Ministries Department recently celebrated Master Guides’ Day and had its Master Guide Induction at the Savannah Seventh-day Adventist Church. The theme was “I will Return, I will Serve, I will Go”.

The Master Guides were empowered and encouraged to continue to do their honest part in seeking and serving others by fellow Master Guide Carla McGarvey-Blair.  In support, the Pathfinders, Adventurers and non-participating Master Guides wore their uniforms. The Cayman Islands and Union Jack flags were raised outside at half-mast before the procession began in respect of the death of Prince Philip of Wales.

Commenting on worship service, Sister Merle Watkins, Pathfinder Director Of the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, said, “It was refreshing to worship with Master Guides from the length and breadth of the Cayman Islands singing Yes Lord! Yes Lord! Completely Yes! We will Go!’

Regarding the Master Guides’ Induction, This year’s cohort was extra special. Some Trainees have been in Youth Ministries from Little Lambs, (ages four) to Guide (ages fifteen).  Ten persons representing George Town church, Bodden Town church, Maranatha church and Savannah church had their induction into the Master Guides family. The ceremony officiants for the ceremony were Pastor Carlon Nyack, Youth Director of the Cayman Islands Conference and Assistant Youth Director of the Cayman Islands Conference Director Merle Watkins.

During the ceremony, there was a candle-lighting where several Master Guides lit candles on behalf of the inductees. While taking the opportunity to remind them of the high calling in Christ Jesus, and encouraged them to re-dedicate and re-commit their lives to Jesus. As the Inductees took turns lighting their candles, signifying their willingness to live up to the high ideals, they were reminded that “Christ is their true Master Guide, and He has already shown us the way. After He takes us home, He will take away these uniforms, sashes, scarves we now have; and replace them with white robes and golden crowns.”

The Inductees were given the opportunity to choose an Invested Master Guide to robe them, and these individuals will serve as mentors for the duration of their training. This is Youth Ministries at its best! #passiton

The Master Guide Program is at the highest level of Adventist Youth Ministries. The Master Guides are leaders that serve the church in all areas of the Youth Ministry. Its curriculum is designed for youth and adults, ages 16 and older, and it prepares the participant for leadership roles with the Adventurer, Pathfinder, and Youth Ministries. The emphasis is on in-service training and active involvement in learning new skills and developing methods for successful leadership. The purpose of the Master Guide curriculum is to develop youth leadership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
