It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to Heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. Hebrews 11:5 (NLT)
When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah (the man who lived the longest, 969 years). After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day, he disappeared because God took him.
He lived for 365 years. Perhaps there’s an application for us there; we need to walk in close fellowship with God every single day/365. We need to live a life to please God.
How do we please God? Look no further than Enoch’s example. Hebrews 11:6 NLT says that it is impossible to please God without faith.
How did Enoch demonstrate that he had faith? One writer in reference to Enoch, said, “To him, prayer was as the breath of the soul; he lived in the very atmosphere of heaven.” “The greater and more pressing his labors, the more constant and earnest were his prayers.” “The greater the existing iniquity, the more earnest was his longing for the home of God.” Ellen White, Patriarchs and Prophets, 85-87.
Do you want to be taken up to Heaven when Jesus comes again? 2 Cor 5:7 says we need to “walk by faith and not by sight.” The Just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38) . Mat 6:33 NLT – says Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Rom 12:2 NLT says; Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then, you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Do you want to please God? Faith is the key. Seek God and His Kingdom First. Let Him transform you by renewing your mind. He wants to save you eternally by Grace through Faith in Jesus. He wants to take you to Heaven just like Enoch when Jesus comes again.
The question today is, who are you living for? I want to challenge you today to be like Enoch! Learn to love, walk and please God every day of your lives!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Help us to learn how to please you. Help us to learn how to walk in close fellowship with you, just like Enoch. Amen
