“So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT)
When you have connections with people in high places, they can help you out big time. Sometimes it can maybe be like putting in a good word for you to get a promotion or allowing you to get some special discounts and privileges. Not only that, but sometimes when you are in trouble, these persons can help bail you out of a situation. But those are earthly connections. I am here to tell you that you have connections, more powerful than the President of the United States or any king or queen, governor, mayor or whoever here on earth. Let’s see who it is.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT) states “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find Grace to help us when we need it most.”
Wow, that is amazing, we have some serious connections! Jesus, the great High Priest and King of the Universe, (because of what He did for us on the Cross), is now inviting you and me to come boldly to His throne of Grace. And how do we do that? It’s through His Gift of Prayer!
“I like John Piper’s analogy that prayer is our walkie-talkie to get the supplies we need in the spiritual war that we are engaged in, but it’s important to note, it’s not an intercom to call the maid to bring extra beverages to the den. In other words, prayer isn’t to make us comfortable and cosy, oblivious to the advancement of God’s kingdom purposes. Prayer is our walkie-talkie to bring in the needed supplies as we seek first His kingdom and righteousness. If you’re under fire in the battle, persevere—hold fast your confession, because Jesus is our great high priest. If you have needs, pray—draw near to the throne of Grace to receive mercy and find Grace to help in the battle. We need someone who can cut through the red tape and help us when we can’t help ourselves. We can always call and count on Jesus. Do we take advantage of this special invitation of prayer? Jesus is inviting you, and I encourage you to humbly take advantage of this gift of prayer to talk with Jesus every single day! Are you ready to speak to your connections in High Places today?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus, thank you for the invitation to come boldly to your throne of Grace so that we can be refreshed and find grace, mercy and help in our time of need! Help us to take advantage of this special gift you have given us, in Jesus name. Amen.
