ADRA Cayman Islands – Hurricane Preparedness Notice 2025

Adventist Relief Agency (ADRA) Cayman Islands encourages all members to make the necessary preparations for the 2025 Hurricane Season.

Effective preparation starts with a clear emergency plan—one that protects you and your family from potential risks or injuries. We urge every member to discuss your plan with your household and take the following steps to stay safe.

These are some basic guidelines to consider. For more detailed information, please visit the Hazard Management Cayman Islands website: 🌐 www.caymanprepared.gov.ky or download Hazard Residence Kit.

🛡️ Basic Preparedness Guidelines:
  1. Secure your property – Clear all loose debris from around your home and dispose of it at the Cayman Islands Government garbage collection facility.
  2. Update travel documents – Keep them sealed and packed in your emergency/evacuation bag.
  3. Prepare a medical kit – Include all prescribed medications and basic first-aid supplies.
  4. Identify the nearest shelters – Plan your evacuation route and review shelter-in-place guidelines from Hazard Management.
  5. Practice fire safety – Never leave your kitchen unattended while cooking, and ensure all flames are out before leaving.
  6. Stock non-perishable food – Ensure they are undamaged and within expiry. Frozen food may spoil if electricity is lost.
  7. Use safe water – Drink bottled water or boil tap water to purify it.
  8. Never run generators indoors – This can lead to deadly carbon monoxide poisoning due to poor ventilation.
  9. Check your utilities – Review hurricane safety tips for both water and electricity.
  10. Avoid flooded roads – Floodwaters can rise quickly and stall vehicles, putting lives at risk.
  11. Fuel your vehicle – Ensure you have a full tank before the storm.
  12. Stay informed – Rely only on official updates from Hazard Management Cayman Islands. Avoid unverified rumors.
  13. Wait for the all-clear – Do not leave your shelter until the Cayman Islands Government has given the official all-clear.

Hurricanes can lead to loss of life and widespread destruction. We urge you to take this moment to prepare and remain prepared throughout the season.
